CHECK YOUR EGO

Get back to reality, no matter how it feels

You been hurt so long, it’s hard to know what’s real

You owe it to yourself, to get back to where you been

Before the lights went out, and you fell into the den……

      Of losing your mind

And your body and your soul

      It’s illusion

Check your ego as you go

Your hands are getting clammy as you listen to this song

You know that it’s about you and your life gone so wrong

You have walls so thick, they hide you from the sun

Look into the mirror, and know that you’re the one

     Who’s losing his mind

And his body and his soul

     It’s illusion

Check your ego as you go

The clock keeps right on clickin’ as you stumble through your life

The alarm someday will blast, and bring you to the light

But it’s up to you to listen and swallow all that pride

I know the pain inside you, I know the tears you’ve cried

     And you’re losing your mind

And your body and your soul

     It’s illusion

Check your ego as you go

SPREAD YOUR WINGS

Bob Schweitzer BSCHWE@milwaukee.gov

I feel the hunger that aches deep inside.

I see the terror and hurt in your eyes

He’s gone now, no way to return,

But his bastard fire, still makes you burn.

(Fever is rising deep from the cold

Jagged reflections scrape at your soul)

       But you are not dirty

       You are an angel

       Spread your wings now

       And let yourself fly

You were a child, defenseless and weak

He took advantage, you had no retreat

You weren’t the demon, you were not wrong

Don’t blame yourself; you’ve done that too long

(Fever is rising deep from the cold

Jagged reflections scrape at your soul)

       But you are not dirty

       You are an angel

       Spread your wings now

       And let yourself fly

       Spread your wings now

       And let yourself fly

Extiende tus alas

Bob Schweitzer BSCHWE@milwaukee.gov

Traducido por  María Cristina Azcona

Siento el hambre que dentro es dolor

Veo el terror que hiere al mirar

Se ha ido ya, no va a regresar,

Pero su fuego aún te puede quemar

(La fiebre que viene del frío sin calma

Reflexiones agudas escarban tu alma)

Más tú no estás contaminado

Porque eres un ángel dorado

Extiende tus alas ahora

 y empieza a volar

Tú eras un niño indefenso y maltrecho

El tomó ventaja y no tuviste chance

Tú no eras malo, no te equivocaste

No te culpes; bastante lo haz hecho

(La fiebre que viene del frío sin calma

Reflexiones agudas escarban tu alma)

Más tú no estás contaminado

Porque eres un ángel dorado

Extiende tus alas ahora

Y empieza a volar

Extiende tus alas ahora

Y empieza a volar
