Francisco Azuela, nació en la Ciudad de León, Guanajuato, México, el 8 de marzo de 1948. Es sobrino nieto de Mariano Azuela, primer novelista de la Revolución Mexicana. Estudió en las Universidades de Guanajuato, Iberoamericana, UNAM y Panamericana de la Ciudad de México, y en las Complutense de Madrid y Laval de Québec. Es miembro de la Sociedad General de Escritores de México y del Consejo Panamericano de la CISAC y Miembro de la International Writers Guild.

 

Fue diplomático en las Embajadas de México en Costa Rica y Honduras (1973-1983) y fue condecorado por el Gobierno hondureño con la Orden del Libertador de Centroamérica FRANCISCO MORAZAN, en el grado de Oficial. Fue candidato de la Academia Hondureña de la Lengua al Premio Internacional de Literatura CENVANTES de España en 1981.

 

Es autor de El Maldicionero (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, 3ª.ed., 1981), El Tren de Fuego (Instituto de la Cultura del Estado de Guanajuato, 1993), La Parole Ardente, edición bilingüe (John Donne & Cie., France, 1993), Son las Cien de la Tarde (Instituto de la Cultura del Estado de Guanajuato, 1996), Ángel del Mar de mis Sueños (Centro Cultural Internacional El Cóndor de los Andes-Águila Azteca, A.C., 2000). Además, su obra se ha publicado en Interactions (Department of German-University College, London), Rimbaud Revue (Semestriel International de Création Littéraire, France et la Communauté Européenne des poétes), en la Revista Neruda Internacional y en revistas y antologías de Canadá, Centroamérica, Sudamérica, España, Francia, México, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Austria, Italia, Chile y Bolivia.

 

Fue Director de la Biblioteca del Honorable Congreso de la Cámara de Diputados del Estado de Guanajuato (1991-1997).

 

Fue Director General y fundador del Centro Cultural Internacional El Cóndor de los Andes - Aguila Azteca, A.C., con sede en la Ciudad de Cochabamba, Bolivia, (1999). La Editora Universitaria de Lisboa, Portugal publicó el libro de poesía contemporánea “UN MUNDO NO CORAÇAO”, del poeta francés Jean-Paul Mestas, edición bilingüe 2002 en portugués y francés que contiene 82 poetas de 57 países y en el que Francisco Azuela representa a México.

 

La Prestigiada Editorial boliviana Plural Editores, reeditó tres de sus libros, que fueron presentados por la Embajada de México en las VII y VIII Ferias Internacionales del Libro, celebradas en La Paz, en agosto de 2002 y 2003.

 

A partir de noviembre de 2001, Francisco Azuela radica en la ciudad de La Paz, Bolivia. Es Director del Centro Integrado de Documentación e Información del Instituto Internacional de Integración del Convenio Andrés Bello.

 

En 2004, se editó en México su “Antología Poética: Un Recorrido Interminable 1972- 2003” .

 

En julio del 2004 se leyeron en español y alemán en la Radio Fabrik Salzburg de Austria, poesías de Francisco Azuela, en el programa Poesía y Música Latinoamericana.

 

En 2004 la Revista Revue d'art et delittérature, musique de la Editorial Le Chasseur Abstrait, hizo una publicación en formato PDF de La Parole Ardente, traducida al francés por el poeta Patrick Cintas e ilustrada por Valérie Constantin.

 

En 2005 fue seleccionado para formar parte de la Antología EL VERBO DESCERRAJADO, como un homenaje a los presos políticos chilenos. Ed. Apostrophes. Chile.

 

En 2005 fue seleccionado para formar parte de la Antología Canto a un Prisionero, como un homenaje a los presos político en Turquía. Editorial Poetas Antiimperialistas de América. Ottawa, Canadá, Esta Antología se presentó en Bruselas, Rótterdam, Paris y Montreal.

 

El 9 de febrero de 2006, las Embajadas de Francia, Brasil, España y México en Bolivia, presentaron el CD-ROM “Le printemps des Poètes”, La Primavera de los Poetas, con obras de Francisco Azuela en seis idiomas: alemán, aymara, español, francés, inglés y portugués.

 

Seleccionado por el Centro Simón I. Patino de la ciudad de Santa Cruz, para formar parte de la Muestra de Poesía Contemporánea Boliviana, para la 7ª. Feria del Libro de Santa Cruz, a celebrada del 31 de mayo al 11 de junio de 2006.

First Canto

 

I have not arrived late, commander

To salute your name

The big history in America

In which we all fit.

 

I live next door

From where your hands were hidden in Bolivia

Every morning

I put my hands over that wall of stone

And brick

To salute you.

 

In the starry night of October

I see the luminous flight of a red condor.

Over the Cordillera Real of the Andes,

Under the Andinian Cross

I also see flying over the time

Your hands and mask.

 

You are accompanied from the Cañon of Ñancanhuazú

By your combatants and commanders,

The ones who felt the land

Of the ridges of Incahuasi,

And drank from the river of the Quebrada of Yancunday

The thickness of the forest.

 

 

 

The buried ones in Choreti

Behind the ovens of brick,

The ones lost in Alto Seco

And San Lorenzo River

Where Tania lonely

Wanders.

 

At 13:30 on that black Sunday

On the 8th of October of 1967

When your voice was heard

"I surrender! Don't kill me! I am El Che!

I am worth more alive than dead!"

Those who killed you,

Those who punctured you,

Those who travel on the dark side of history

Deserve to be forgotten

 

They left scattered in Valle Grande

And the Quebrada of Yuro

The blood of the ones who gave light to our

History.

 

Third Canto

 

America's commander,

Sad wing in the midnight wind

The sun travels through a horizon

Your blood was not in vain

I still think on that container of formaldehyde

That transcends a rain of hopes.

 

Here they made you a hero,

They made you homeland

You sowed the road with stars

You are homeland,

American land.

 

Ground of thorns

Of brooks and dark paths

Where your memories

Were opened to life

 

Commander

Today I give you my greeting

And my fraternal arm,

You have triumphed

And with you, we have succeeded too.

 

Your hands have traveled to the reunion

Of the rest of your members

Of your painful body,

Wounded in his veins

Living monument of America

Francisco Azuela, was born in León City, Guanajuato, México, in 1948.  He is the grandson of  Mariano Azuela, first novelist of the Mexican Revolution.  He studied at the Universities of Guanajuato, Iberoamericana, UNAM and Panamericana of Mexico City and in the Complutense of Madrid and Laval in Québec.   Mr. Azuela is a member of the General Society of Writers of Mexico, Ordinary Member, and Member of the Panamerican Counsel of CISAC and Member of the International Writers Guild. 

He was a diplomat in the Mexican Embassies in Costa Rica and Honduras (1973-1983) and was decorated with the Order of the Central American Liberator FRANCISCO MORAZAN, rank of Official, by the Honduran Government.  He was a candidate of the Honduran Academy of Language at the International Literary Prize CENVANTES of Spain in 1981.

He has published:

He was the Director of the Library of the Honorable Congress of the Chamber of Deputies of the State of Guanajuato (1991-1997) and founder of ecological institutions of civil society.

Mr. Azuela was General Coordinador of Council of Culture of León, Guanajuato (1998) and founder of the  International Gallery “Sculptor Víctor Gutiérrez”- Century XXI, S.C., located in  Mexicon City (1998).

He is Director General and founder of the International Cultural Center El Cóndor de los Andes – Aguila Azteca, A.C., located in Cochabamba City, Bolivia, (1999).  The Editora University of Lisbon, Portugal, published the book of contemporary poetry “UN MUNDO NO CORAÇAO”, of the French poet Jean-Paul Mestas, bilingual edition, 2002 in Portuguese and French which contains 82 poets from 57 countries in which Mr. Azuela represents Mexico.

The Bolivian Prestigiada Editorial Plural Editores, reedited three of his books, that were presented to the Mexican Embassy at the VII International Book Fair, celebrated in La Paz in August of 2002.

Starting in November, 2001, Mr. Azuela took root in the city of La Paz, Bolivia, where he became the  Director of the Integrated Center of Documentation and Information (CIDI)  of the International Institute of Integration of the Andrés Bello Convention,  International Intergovernmental Organization of which the members include:  Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
