POETRY

GODDESS VENUS

by MARIA SILVINA CASTELLANO

Oh! Languid goddess who sees the world

from on high tempestuous Olympus,

so presumptuous of your beauty.

You, who emerged from the bewitched

waters of eternal sea.

Your skin has been threaded with gold

and silver fibres.

Your golden hair was wrought with

innate refinement.

You seduce every man with your

slender silhouette,

but your conscience scrutinizes your

not so beautiful behavior.

 Why,each time your enchantment

increases, does the white

foam from where you once emerged ,

turn to be so dark?

Through negligence, perhaps all

goodness you destroyed.

Your ironic vanity, like a symphonic

agony, rushes at your skin, ruining

its magnificent purity.

In any case, Oh! my Muse, I beg you

to revive your melodious harmony

 for us.

My poem GODDESS VENUS is published at

The Still Horizon by Cyberwit.net, India, pp. 246 is an admirable, attractive and scholarly anthology of poems from different nations USA, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Argentina, Spain, France, Portugal, Japan, India etc. The poems included in this anthology are very subtle, full of freshness, simplicity and pictorial power. The poems reveal a sustained impressibility towards the very mystery of life. Devoid of any artistic monotony, here is the triumph of the lyre. The poems from different countries reveal “a world among worlds.” The large number of poems from USA makes it evident that America’s post-modern poetry is all set to storm the world. The poets included in The Still Horizon seem to have found an identity as the “voice of America singing.” One can easily recognize the presence of genius and inspiration in European poets of the anthology. The women poets of The Still Horizon write with a rich intensity of emotion that is inaccessible to men. These poets have intensely expressed their suppressed perceptions and desires, proving that feminine consciousness does exist.
